What is a quarter auction?

A quarter auction is a fun and interactive fundraising event where participants bid on items using quarters. The auction items are typically donated by local businesses or individuals and can range from gift baskets, to gift cards, to handmade items.

During a quarter auction, participants purchase a paddle or bidding number for a small fee, usually $5-10. When an item is up for auction, the auctioneer will hold up the item and announce how many quarters are required to bid on it (usually 1-4 quarters). Participants interested in bidding on the item will place the required number of quarters in a bucket or bowl on their table and hold up their paddle. The auctioneer will then draw a numbered chip from a container, and if the number matches the number on the participant's paddle, they win the item.

Quarter auctions are popular fundraising events for schools, sports teams, churches, and other organizations because they are fun and help raise money for a good cause. They require minimal setup and can be a great way to engage with the community and support local businesses.
